Call for Papers about owl research

The 6th World Owl Conference - WOC 2019 India - is going to take place from the 29th of November until the 2nd of December 2019 at the SP University in Pune in India. After the conference the 2nd Indian Owl Festival is going to take place at ELA Habitat on the 3rd and 4th of December 2019. The hosts of the conference are the Ela Foundation (fb) and the SP Pune University. The Wilderness Area is part of the conference committee.

If you were interested, you are invited to join the conference, to give a presentation (of 15 minutes) and to present a scientific poster. To reduce the footprint of the conference there will be the possibility for video presentations and presenting posters without being present, and it is planned that present conference attendees are going to plant trees (One Tree Planted, My Tree, Project Green Hands). You are invited to register and submit your abstracts for poster presentations, oral presentations and video presentations.

The topics of the conference are going to focus on the biology and the conservation of owls, on the situation in India, on worldwide projects, global topics like climate change and environmental toxins, the impact on owls as well as worldwide alternatives and solutions. Keynote presentations are anticipated to be about owls in SE Asia, long-term owl programmes in Nepal and South Africa, as well as about climate change and the impact on owls.

There is going to be an art exhibit, workshops and excursions. In the course of the conference there is going to take place the second Indian Owl Festival. Since 1987 World Owl Conferences took place in four countries (Canada, Australia, The Netherlands and Portugal) and on three continents. With India the history of the WOC is going to be expanded to a fifth country and a fourth continent.
